I. AzSHA Scholars Program and Scholarship

In coordination with the UA College of Law (UA Law) and ASU Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law (ASU Law), AzSHA is pleased to announce the AzSHA Scholars Program and Scholarship.

AzSHA Scholars Program

The Arizona Society for Healthcare Attorneys is pleased to announce that Mary Saxon, Catherine Folsom, Lauren Krumholz, Katherine Barnett, and Danny McDermott have been selected as the 2024 inaugural class of AzSHA Scholars!

AzSHA Scholars are 3L law students selected from the ASU and U of A law schools who have demonstrated academic excellence and an interest in joining the health law community.  We are delighted to welcome the AzSHA Scholars at our AzSHA programs, conference, and Board of Directors’ meetings, and to help them make valuable connections to the health law community.

AzSHA Scholarship

In the Spring, the AzSHA Scholars will have an opportunity to apply for a $2,500 cash scholarship by April 1, 2024 that will be awarded to one AzSHA Scholar from UA Law and one AzSHA Scholar from ASU Law prior to each student’s graduation. II. AHLA Fundamentals of Health Law Conference Scholarship

AzSHA selected Sara Kizer as its first recipient of a $2,500 scholarship for a health care attorney with less than five years of experience in practice to attend the American Health Law Association’s (AHLA) Fundamentals of Health Law conference in Chicago from November 5‐7, 2023.

Sara is a 2022 graduate of the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law. During her tenure she was the Editor-in-Chief of Jurimetrics: The Journal of Law, Science, and Technology and the President of the Health Law Society. She also earned a certificate in health law & policy. Sara is currently clerking for the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona. She recently completed a clerkship for Vice Chief Justice Ann A. Scott Timmer of the Arizona Supreme Court. Before becoming an attorney, Sara worked as a consultant for the Lewin Group, a health and human services consulting firm, where she specialized in project management and health data analysis for federal and state government clients.
