Jessica Van Ranken practices employment law and immigration law. She enjoys helping employers navigate the wide range of issues that can arise in the workplace. She counsels clients on compliance with state and federal employment laws, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Arizona Civil Rights Act (ACRA), the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and paid sick time law compliance. Jessica also represents clients in employment-based litigation involving a range of issues, including restrictive covenants, paid sick time, wage and hour, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, tortious interference with contract, and other related areas. She also responds to charges of workplace discrimination, harassment, and retaliation before state and federal agencies. Jessica regularly drafts and reviews employee handbooks, policies, and agreements, including non-compete and non-solicitation agreements, confidentiality agreements, severance agreements, and independent contractor agreements.
In the immigration law area, Jessica represents employers in obtaining non-immigrant visas such as H-1B and L-1 visas, and she also helps individuals with family-based immigration petitions. Jessica also counsels employers on immigration-related compliance and worksite enforcement issues and handles Form I-9 audits.
Jessica received her J.D. from The Ohio State University and her B.S. from Kansas State University.
