Houston, We Have an Update: Interoperability Developments You May Have Missed

This presentation will provide a comprehensive update on the major developments shaping the health data interoperability landscape. The speakers will review key regulatory and policy changes from 2024-2025 and preview what to expect in 2026, including developments under the Information Blocking Rule (IBR) and enforcement efforts at both the federal and state levels, as reflected in recent and emerging litigation (e.g.Particle Health Inc. v. EpicCureIS v. EpicReal Time Medical Systems v. PointClickCare, and Intus Care v. RTZ Systems). The speakers will also address CMS interoperability mandates, changes to the USCDI data policy, and the expanding implementation of the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA). Attendees will leave better equipped to advise clients on compliance risks, enforcement trends, and emerging opportunities in this rapidly evolving area of health law.

Helen Oscislawski is a nationally recognized healthcare and data privacy attorney with over two decades of experience advising C-suite executives and general counsel on strategies for the lawful access, use, and exchange of health data. As the founding member of Attorneys at Oscislawski LLC, she is a Super Lawyers® honoree and three-time Best Lawyers® “Lawyer of the Year,” respected for helping hospitals, health systems, and health IT organizations navigate the complexities of HIPAA, 42 C.F.R. Part 2, Information Blocking, TEFCA, and related regulatory frameworks.

Melissa (Mel) Soliz is a partner at Coppersmith Brockelman in Phoenix, where she leads the firm’s data interoperability and technology practice. She advises clients on health data privacy, interoperability, and AI compliance, and serves as President of the Arizona Society of Healthcare Attorneys and Co-Chair of The Sequoia Project Privacy & Consent Workgroup. She is a recognized by Chambers USA, Best Lawyers©, Super Lawyers, and is an Arizona Capitol Times 2025 Women Achievers and AzBusiness Magazine 2025 Emerging Leaders in Arizona Law awardee.

Location
This program will be a hybrid program with both an in-person and virtual option. Please select the appropriate ticket for whether you intend to be in-person or virtual. Lunch will be provided to those in-person. The Zoom information will only be provided to those who purchase virtual tickets.

To Register

Regardless of membership, you must login to purchase tickets. To do so:

  1. Under ticket information, click “login to purchase”
  2. This will take you to the login page. If you are a member, use the login information utilized for your membership. If you are a non-member, you will need to create an account to purchase a ticket. Non-members who have not created an account yet, must select “Register” along the bottom next to “Lost your password?”
  3. From there, you will create an Account by entering a username, name, email address, and password. Then select “Complete Sign Up.”
  4. The account will need to be activated by using the link in a confirmation email sent to the registered email address. Once the account is activated, you will login using the credentials provided (username and password).
  5. Once logged in, navigate to the Program page and select the number of tickets needed and select “Get Tickets” to proceed with the checkout process.
