SUMMARY:Collateral Consequences for Physicians
DESCRIPTION:A discussion of the collateral consequences to health care professionals following action by medical boards\, hospitals\, health plans\, the DEA and the criminal process. \nBarry Mitchell is a 30-year trial lawyer focusing on criminal\, regulatory\, and administrative cases. Barry is particularly skilled in defending cases with an intersection between criminal and regulatory/administrative issues. He has represented hundreds of licensed professionals and entities facing matters ranging from domestic violence to money laundering. He has also handled internal investigation and compliance issues for organizations ranging from small companies and practice groups to Fortune 100 corporations. Before starting Mitchell | Stein | Carey | Chapman\, Barry practiced for 22 years at Gallagher & Kennedy\, P.A.\, and was a partner in its Criminal Law and Regulatory Enforcement Group. \nSteve Myers has represented physicians hundreds of times in connection with peer review proceedings at most of the hospitals in Arizona and has represented physicians 1\,000 or more times before the Arizona Medical Board and Arizona Board of Osteopathic Examiners in Medicine and Surgery. Many former Medical Board Chairs of the Arizona Medical Board have referred their partners and colleagues to Steve for representation before the Board. He has also represented a former M.D. Chair of the Board before the Board members and also a sitting M.D. Board member before his fellow M.D. Board members.
